What’s Included:
Copyedits - Tracked changes to include grammar, spelling, and syntax, as well as issues regarding overall clarity and consistency. This service can range from a light touch, only identifying fatal errors, to a more thorough edit of the manuscript line-by-line. Authors may choose to include a second round of edits to ensure revisions have not introduced new errors into the manuscript.
Developmental Edits - A deeper examination of character, setting, dialogue, and plot to ensure consistency and clarity of story. Depending on desired level of editing, each scene may be assessed for structure and effectiveness against the story’s plot. The developmental edit includes an editorial letter outlining where the story’s strengths lie, and where certain elements can be strengthened to serve the overall story. Additionally, this includes a video call to go over the developmental letter in case you have any questions.
Critique - A written assessment as to the effectiveness of story and/or scene introductions and endings, as well as comments on the effectiveness of character, setting, dialogue, plot, and other literary devices. Includes a 30-minute call to go over feedback.
Beta Reading - A letter outlining the overall impression of the story, how well it fits into the genre, and whether any specific elements stand out (good or otherwise). This includes a 30-minute video call and the opportunity to ask questions about how the story is received by a reader.
Coaching and Consulting - Editor is available for video or other communication regarding a specific issue (for example, a plot snag the author is struggling to resolve, a brainstorming session, or even regular check-ins/accountability as publishing deadlines approach).
